The Top Ten Worst Sean Connery Films

Ranking the 10 worst Sean Connery films is actually pretty tricky. He has so many awful movies that it was difficult to just list the top 10. It really should be the top 30 worst or top 40 worst. Nevertheless, I have endeavoured to narrow down the worst of the worst when it comes to Sean Connery films.

#1. Zardoz - 1974

I really don't even have to explain why this is the worst Sean Connery film. Anyone seeing film stills or the trailer will instantly know this one is automatically the worst.

#2. Finding Forrester - 2000

This film is basically just a poorly done remake of Good Will Hunting. All they really did is a few minor changes of scenery and plot and the names of characters, and it is basically the same film done with horrible actors like Sean Connery.

#3. Dragonheart - 1996

Sean Connery did the voice acting for the dragon. Because his own acting would have been horrible. The digital dragon was a better actor.

#4. The Avengers - 1998

Sean Connery plays the Scottish villain in this homage to the TV show, which sadly didn't live up to the TV show and ended up being horrible in almost every way.

#5. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - 2003

Sean Connery is really only in this film because he is Sean Connery and they wanted a big name actor in it. It was a pay-cheque.

#6. Highlander II: The Quickening - 1991

Oh look, his character is alive, again. Lame. More of Sean Connery talking.

#7. Entrapment - 1999

Sean Connery with a much younger actress, trying not to drool or appear misogynistic. No wait, he fails.

#8. Family Business - 1989

This movie is so horrible it isn't even memorable.

#9. First Knight - 1995

Sean Connery in a supporting role as King Arthur, while Lancelot is the main actor. Fortunately we do get to see Connery die.

Honourable Mentions for Sheer Horribleness

Meteor - 1979

Medicine Man - 1992

Just Cause - 1995

#10. Robin and Marian

This is quite possibly the worst adaptation of Robin Hood ever made. Check out the movie trailer below. It is so bad even the trailer looks horrible.

Sean Connery is a ham actor 2

If you have any doubts that Sean Connery is a ham actor, then please watch the trailer for the 1974 film "Zardoz". See the trailer further below.

It is undoubtedly Connery's worst film ever.

If you are still not convinced, read Sean Connery is a ham actor.

Eventually after seeing enough bad Sean Connery roles in movies you will realize that he really only showed up, said his lines, and wasn't actually that good at putting any emotion into his acting roles.

Now I understand some people get really upset when I say "Sean Connery is a ham actor", but honestly, I am not saying this to hurt your feelings. I am saying in an effort to teach people the difference between good acting and bad acting. Watch the trailer for Zardoz and you will realize Sean Connery really has almost no acting skill and is really just hired for his looks and accent.

Sean Connery is a ham actor

Sean Connery has good looks.

Sean Connery has an attractive accent.

But he isn't particularly good at acting. He never took any actual acting lessons. And while he has many fans he actually is not that good of an actor.

In contrast let's take a different actor like Kirk Douglas. The star of many films including Spartacus. He's a career actor with many films to his name. Just as many as Sean Connery.

He doesn't just look good in front of the camera, he has actual acting skill. And he doesn't need an accent to prop up his career.

If you want to compare this even more let's compare their children. Sean Connery's son acts in various B movies. You probably don't even know his name.

Kirk Douglas's son is Michael Douglas and famous all on his own for his acting skill. (And good looks.)

Sean Connery's real claim to fame is being the first James Bond. But he isn't the best James Bond. Many fans agree that Roger Moore is the best James Bond. Why? It is because Roger Moore has actual acting skill. Whereas some people just like Sean Connery, but they're really just attracted to his name and his looks.

Can you name a movie with Sean Connery in it in which he shows off his acting skills? The kind of performance that gets you an Oscar nomination.

Hint: It is for his role in The Untouchables. And it wasn't for Best Actor. It was for Best Supporting Actor. Which is a bit like winning "Best Second Fiddle".

And that is best award that Sean Connery has ever won. Mostly because his acting skill is negligible.

In contrast lets look at the lengthy career of Kirk Douglas... who began acting in 1942 and starred in many Film Noir films during the 1950s and continued to act well into the 1990s and even the 2000s. (Sean Connery stopped acting in 2003 after his horrible performance in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen... another ham role.)

Kirk Douglas has also been nominated and won Best Actor for his various roles - spanning a film career of 70 years!

And he's still alive and kicking. His last films were in 2010.

Meanwhile Sean Connery has retired from public life and according to the rumours is now "completely gaga" as Alzheimers has set in and melted his brain to mush.

So I think it is pretty safe to say who is the better actor.

And while we are at it lets not forget Roger Moore - who has been acting from 1945 to present. Playing such roles as Maverick, Ivanhoe, The Saint, Sherlock Holmes, James Bond.

Here is more photos of Sean Connery and Kirk Douglas.
